“The School House” is located
approximately 3 kilometres from the junction at Øvernes, and a mere
200 metres from the information sign “CAVING”. This building was
finished in 1938. This building used to be the school
in Gråtådal with as many as 50 students. The school was closed
down in 1961. Today the house is used as a meeting place for those
who take part in the caving experiences we offer. This is also where
we sell grotto souvenirs. A local sanitation group owns the house.
The second floor of “The School
House” is a newly renovated apartment. Both walls and floors have
fresh paint. The apartment has two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen,
entrée and bathroom, and is suitable for 5-7 people.
